My goals are:
- A systematic, analytically fine-grained study of modern China as a political system. How does power flow in the capillaries of the largest bureaucracy in history? How do we evaluate incentive, as we do for "Western democracies?"
- A modern approach to the Chinese classics. "Modern" refers to form, rather than interpretation, except where form preferentially facilitates certain interpretations and experiences.
Technology means this is the best of times to look into China, and politics means this is the most valuable of times.
Working on:
- A navigable repository of Chinese government documents and AI-relevant sites. Temporarily offline because it's getting hit by too many scraper bots. We will improve our understanding of policymaking and people in the largest bureaucracy in the world.
- Handscrolls.
- Classical Poetry.
